In the golden autumn season when the wind sends comfort, the Eighth 
Beijing Academic Exchange Month for Science and Technology sponsored by 
Beijing Association for Science andTechnology will be held in September
-October 2005 in Beijing.The theme of the academic exchange month this 
year is"Scientific Development and Olympic Games". The spirit of"Green 
Olympics, Scientific and Technical Olympics,Humanistic Olympics" is 
internally related to the scientific ideaof sustainable development. 
Through concentrated demonstrationand exchange of the latest results of 
scientific and technicaldevelopment, the academic month promotes all 
circles of the society to understand the strategic concept of "New 
Beijing and New Olympic Games" more profoundly and thus give better play 
to the advantages of resources of Science and Technology in Beijing . The 
academic month aims to construct the platform for exchanging scientific 
and technical ideas, start the wider window for science to influence the 
society and the society to understand science. The academic month aims to 
mobilize and organize the great majority of scientific and technical 
personnel of the capital area to tightly grasp the key scientific and 
technical development issues that concerns the overall situation of the 
development of economic society of the capital, make deep investigation, 
be brave to innovate and make greater contribution to construct the best 
area of harmonious society of socialism.
    The academic month will last for almost two moths. The activities 
of the academic month rely on the societies, associations, research 
institutes and all scientific associations of the primary level, and 
unite with the news units and network medias in Beijing, based on more 
than 300 activities carried out by academy systems and scientific 
associations of primary level,with more than 60 international and 
domestic key academic exchange discussion activities as the main theme, 
around the special topics such as Olympics and capital construction, 
Cyclic economy and biological environment, Agriculture and food,Medicine 
and hygiene, Natural science, Engineering technology, Economy and 
management and Comprehensive activity, it extensively carries out academic 
activities with rich contents and multiple styles. Beijing Academic 
Exchange Month for Science and Technology has been held for seven 
consecutive times. The rich scientific and technical resources of Beijing, 
the great support and participation of all levels of governments of Beijing 
and all circles of the society and the tireless enthusiasm of the capital 
people who loves science and technology and pay attention to science and 
technology are the basic guarantee for the academic month to be successful.
