Prof. Tian Jing, director of the CAS Institute of Acoustics (IOA), was
recently informed by Mr. Hideki Tachibana, President of the International
Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE), that the INCE board
meeting has endorsed China's proposal hold the 37th Inter-Noise Congresses
in 2008 in Shanghai.
The proposal was made by Prof. Tian on behalf of the Acoustical
Society of China and IOA, at the 34th Inter-Noise Congresses from August
5 to 10 in Brazil.
Founded in 1974, I-INCE is a worldwide consortium of organizations
concerned with noise control, acoustics and vibration. The primary
focus of the Institute is on unwanted sounds and on vibrations producing
such sounds when transduced. Under the Sponsorship of I-INCE, the INTER-
NOISE Series of International Congresses on Noise Control Engineering,
largest world gathering of experts in noise control engineering, is held
annually in leading cities of the world. The Congresses include a large
technical program consisting of papers and posters on all topics of noise
control engineering. Papers summarizing these presentations are collected
into a Proceedings document that is available for reference after the
Congress. The Congresses also include an exhibition of the latest products
and instrumentation for noise control engineering
