Prof. Bai Chunli makes plenary presentation at world conference on STM

CAS Executive Vice President Bai Chunli attended the 13th International Conference on Scanning Tunneling Microscopy/Spectroscopy and Related Techniques (STM '05) held from July 3 to 8 in Sapporo, Japan. He was invited to make a plenary presentation entitled Molecular Processes under STM World at the conference.
More than 500 scholars from various countries across the world participated in the oneweek meeting, sharing latest advances on different topics in the field, ranging from bio& macromolecules and polymers, semiconductor and metal surface structure, nanotubes to molecular electronics.
Several renowned scholars in the field, including J.S. Murday from US Naval Research Laboratory and K. Kern from the Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research, were also present at the meeting as a plenary speaker.
This biennial conference was convened for the first time in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in 1986, and its fourth session was held in 1993 in Beijing.
