On March 3, Tian Xiaoping and He Huiling discussed with Zhou Jianqiang, Representative of 
Canadian Ministry of Agriculture. The discussion mainly focused on the International Academic 
Seminar on production in safety system of agricultural product and on the 2008 Olympic games. 
The seminar sponsor, Wang Huimin and Qiu Jiyan, the deputy chairmen of the executive council 
of Beijing Society for Plant Pathology (BSPP), gave a report on the preparations for the seminar.
    Tian Xiaoping stressed on the great significance of the seminar, which was jointly held by China 
and Canada. Beijing will focus on the development of the production in safety of agricultural 
product and the problems existing there, jointly explore the developing strategy with the developed
countries on the safety system of the production and the circulation of agricultural goods, on the
supervising system and monitoring techniques in the process of agricultural goods production and 
on the effective mechanism and patterns of market access system. Through the cooperation, 
Sino-Canada cooperation in relevant technical fields will be promoted and Beijing' s management 
level of agricultural goods safety will be improved.
     Doctor Zhou Jianqiang expressed his willingness to send the opinions to Canadian government 
and scientific research department in time and his wish to make efforts jointly in order to accomplish 
the seminar successfully.
     After the discussion, Doctor Zhou also inspected oat planting environment and milking cow farm 
in Guanting reservoir of Yanqing County.
