Delegation from BSGPC made a survey in Australia and New Zealand

From 27 Nov to 10 Dec 2004, a 15 members delegation from Beijing Society of Surveying and Mapping (BSSM), headed by Hong Libo, chairman of BSSM' s executive council, made a survey to Australia and New Zealand for academic exchange. The visit was carried out on the purpose of enhancing international academic exchange and cooperation, providing the association members with an opportunity to go abroad for investigating and broadening their vision. During its staying there, the delegation put priority on exchanging academic opinions with the Geographic Information School of University of Me1bourne. Professor B, agent dean of the School, expressed his welcome to the delegation and gave a brief account on University of Melbourne, affiliated research center and the research conducted there. Doctor Zhang Chunshan exchanged the late fruit of research on aeronautics and astronautics remote sensing pictures. Meanwhile, Doctor B swapped the late results on constructing virtual reality (VR) by adopting DEM, RS and GIS, and gave examples of application on close-range photographic surveying by using ordinary digital camera. Both sides exchanged opinions and communicated on the issues above. Chairman Hong Libo representing all the members of the delegation made a brief introduction on BSSM and expressed gratitude to the warm reception, meanwhile, presented souvenir as gifts to the other side.
