CAS President Lu Yongxiang held talks with Dr. Brendan Nelson, Australian 
Government Minister for Education, Science and Training, on July 4 in Beijing.

   Prof. Lu pointed out that the cooperation between CAS and Australian scientists 
have strengthened over the past years. He suggested that more mutual benefiting 
efforts could be made in such cuttingedge fields as energy and nanoscience. Dr. 
Nelson briefed Prof. Lu on recent Australian development in energy source and 
nuclear physics applications, and wishes to see more collaboration with CAS in 
these areas.
