The 12th International Congress of Biorheology (ICB) was held jointly
with the 5th International Conference of Clinical Hemorheology (ICCH) in
China's southwest city Chongqing during May 30 to June 3. During the event,
Prof. Long Mian from the CAS Institute of Mechanics was elected a Council
Member of the International Society of Biorheology (ISB).
Established in 1972, the ISB commits itself to advance and disseminate
knowledge of the science of biorheology and the applications of biorheology
to human welfare. The ICB takes place every three years with the first
Congress held at Lyon, France in 1972. Since 1995 when for the first time
the Congress was held jointly with the ICCH, these two academic conferences
have taken place synchronously.Currently there are 13 ISB council members
and Prof. Shu Chien from the University of California, San Diego is the
president.
