CAS President Lu Yongxiang, who is also vice chairman of the 
Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met with 
visiting Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of 
the Kingdom of Thailand on July 22 in Beijing.

    "It is the first visit of the Princess to the CAS headquarters 
and we feel honored and privileged to receive her here" says Prof. 
Lu, adding, "The Princess as an old friend of Chinese people has 
made outstanding contributions to promoting the friendship between 
the two peoples." He briefed H. R. H. on recent developments of CAS 
and its cooperation with the Thai side.

    HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn said she had visited some 
CAS institutions, such as Xishuangbanna Botanical Garden, for many 
times, and many of the advanced technologies and experiences there 
are valuable for Thailand.

    After the meeting, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited 
two Beijing-based CAS institutes: Institute of Automation and 
Institute of Biophysics.
